interesting reading :)

might be coincidence, but it's not uncommon that i don't find a fame reset in a very long time, and then i find 2 fame resets in 2 moves.
fame resets are rare, but when i do find one it's not uncommon that i find another right after, or very soon after.

but as i said, could very well be coincidences, i am not unhappy in any way with the system as it is now with the storm/moves/fame reset ratio.
the way i see it everything is perfect right now =)

said it before and i say it again, seacap and bcp, you took a great game and made it a whole lot greater! =) you guys are great, and i truly love what you have done to the game sofar! :D

Ok, I did a test run of 500 islands and these were my results:

26 Storms, 7 resets, 199 nothing, 151 gold, 117 moves
669 found moves, 260 loss, 409 net gain

Now for a second test:

26 storms, 15 resets, 199 nothing, 143 gold, 117 moves
796 found moves, 260 lost, 536 net gain

With the exception of the resets, which happen to be the smallest %,there is a +/- 4% error.

breaking it down to 100 move sections you can see the errors induced in the overall %'s, from 60% to 180% of the average.

storms resets nothing gold moves
3 2 49 32 14
6 0 36 30 28
7 2 41 34 16
5 1 35 30 29
5 2 38 25 30
8 3 35 28 26
9 5 39 27 20
3 2 34 38 23
3 1 49 21 26
3 4 42 29 22

Now how about we break it down a bit further, to say 30...

storms resets nothing gold moves
1 1 17 7 4
1 1 11 12 5
1 0 17 10 2
0 0 13 10 7
2 0 13 7 8
2 0 7 10 11
2 0 13 9 6
3 2 10 11 4
2 0 14 8 6
2 0 11 12 5
0 0 15 7 8
1 1 10 8 10
4 0 7 12 7
0 0 11 9 10
4 1 10 7 8
1 1 10 6 12
1 1 15 8 5
3 1 10 8 8
3 1 7 9 10
1 0 13 9 7
6 0 16 4 4
2 3 6 9 10
1 2 11 11 5
1 1 11 10 7
0 0 11 14 5
2 1 10 10 7
0 0 15 8 7
1 1 12 6 10
1 0 18 5 6
1 0 12 9 8
2 2 9 10 7
0 1 8 11 10
1 0 19 5 5
0 1 6 3 0

now there is up to a 400% error.

If you take a small enough sample, you can get it to show anything you want, but it is plain to see that over time they come into line.

i dont think my sample of 569 can really be considered irrelevant either.. i'm gonna do it again with my moves in a bit, and ill see what i come up with.. but what i said was not addressed, and is true.. thats a lot of moves to lose.. i know that if you guys would have played under the conditions we are right now, you would have been very upset and very very frustrated...

maybe you should make a new thread, explain your experiences, and make a poll? personally i like the system, but if the majority feels the way you do and think something should be adjusted maybe something should be done about it?

just a thought

*edit*

just saying that if the public opinion is that things need to change then i think a poll would be the best way to show it.

Actually husk, if you remember, I was always the one advocating a change since people that had time to sit in front of a computer all day long had an advantage over those of us who could not. Towards the end of the game I actually was bored to sit down and relentlessly plod through the world, knowing that I could eek out $20 or $40 for cashout but would have to spend 80, 90, 200 or more hours sitting in front of the screen to do it. I had over 65% of the world mapped then and if I had the time I could have gone over the entire thing and then built up enough moves to attack every pirate in the game. Strategy: none, Patience: ungodly.

Then there were the people out to cheat the system who had bots that plodded through the world from island to island while their 'owners' were at school, work or even asleep. Strategy: none, Fairness: zilch.

Now people are thinking more along the lines of what best to do since their moves are somewhat limited. So now people have to plan out what to do instead of plodding along. In looking through the database, there are numerous strategies in place as each person stives to make theirs work better than everyone elses. Strategy: high

bcp, you seem to be a wise person, i really really really hope you do not change the system to something other than what it is now...

the way i see it you made the system perfect... hope you guys don't "fix it when it's not broken" :)

it works super-fine the way it is

you are correct, what i feel is my personal opinion ;)

but i respect yours aswell, just saying that a poll would be a better way to show what you claim rather than just saying "alot of people feel like me"
