The discussion and debate in the new forum is great! It's just what I was hoping for.

SeaCaptain, your concern is correct to some extent, yet you forget BIG one....

I didn't say I had all the answers... If I did, I wouldn't be putting up polls! :-D

Very true, but we really need to figure out how to get as many new players to stick around long enough to realize what the game actually is. If we scare them off too soon, then we lose them forever.

I used to like the game with coords, now I like the game without.

I got lost with coords just as much as I get lost now. I think though the game plays better now without coords.

For keeping new players in game, can do a favor to them...

Who so ever join this game, they be given invisible mode for first 15 days(starts from day of joining, this can be done programatically setup). When not visible then dont get any attack.

Some can say what they want but the most i've seen on here lately at once is 7 or maybe 8 which is way less than used to play when we did have coords heck i haven't farmed since feb. just go out every so often to try to sink some ships.I know when i was new on here the coords were the only way i could find my map spaces or use all my moves looking for them and really the game needs new blood and the only way thats gonna happen is some major changes

Yes, when I started playing 3 years ago, there were a lot more players. We had cords and it was a full sea. Now, rick is right there is only about 7 or 8 that play at a time and there use to be alot more. Everyone keeps blameing it on the newbies not staying. Why don't we call the rose a rose. I mean if I was new coming into this game and there weren't any cords, I would take that at face value. I never played with cords so I would never know cords. Now as for the newbies not staying, for the past 3 years that is all I have heard, the newbies won't stay. I read in the forum posts from years before I played, the newbies won't stay. Now isn't much different than before. The only problem today is that SeaCapt left us and thus a lot of the big players left us. And yes SeaCapt for the past year you have been very infrequent in coming into the game. The game did go down hill and suffered because of it. And yes, some people need change. I don't know what you did that made this game such a success in the past but we need to do it again. If that mean cords, so be it. I prefer not to have them but that is what this poll is all about, seeing what the players want. SeaCapt is trying his best to get the game back to what it was before and I for one believe he will do it. However, there will always be a certain amount of people coming and going from the game. I don't know how many games I have started playing and then lost interest. And there will always be a certain number of people complaining about the game. And that in itself chases people away. We, as players, need to build the game up, talk about it in other areas of the web, promote the game instead of talking it down!

I have to agree with MadMorganBonney but if we bring the coords back can we still make it fair for everyone.

My thing isn't so much with being able to pounce on noobs or stalk particular pirates...when it gets so that it is toward the end of the week and you've already whacked a ton of folks and can hit them no more it would be nice to know you're in a different area sniffing out some new blood to add to your gold instead of sailing in circles.

I think it would actually help noobs more than hurt. You can farm islands, not gather fame and get a ton of moves to upgrade pretty quickly. The in game mapping feature is nice but it doesn't tell you where you "are" so if you decide right before going to bed to sort of "hide" you can't tell if you're hiding in a place you've been all day already!

I have said many times before that I do not like the game without the coords. That is still true. The return of the coords is the only way I will ever sail my ship again. I do agree that a map reshuffle once a month would be good. But not more often than that.
