yes I left the comp alone for around 10 minutes and tried again. I was finally able to log on and finish my moves slowly but surely but not without complications.
I have no excellerator programs or any other programs installed that could be causing this issue.
All I can say is that on the bottom left of the page when it's loading, it says "connecting to game pirate the world.com" or "transferring data". It timed out several times and when ever it didnt time out, it lagged on every action. It's amazing I didn't get plundered.

although we have been complaining about the lag, this is different, this is way worse..Since after clicking to perform an action the loading page says "connecting", so to me this is a server thing. i don't know much about this topic though.

This is the second night this nasty thing has happened

If anyone is having problems from temp files and cookies from advertisers use this freeware program.

http://www.ccleaner.com

I been using it for over three years and it works great removing that advertising crap that slows or effects your connection/computer. Just use the preset settings on both of the cleaner settings.
(windows and applications). Plus remove those dead unused files you get laying around when you upgrade anything in your computer using the "issues" button located right below the "cleaner" button on the left side. Also comes with both a uninstaller and start up tools.

Also some of that crap and even some types of virus/spywares can get into your index.dat files. These files cannot be deleted while your in windows.

Reboot your computer, keep hitting f8 until the DOS screen shows up. Select safety mode with comand prompt. Then type in:

CD\

After you see CD:

Then type in

del index.dat /s

Make sure you have all the spaces in the command (2 seperate spaces). Hit enter

After its done just shut the computer off and restart it. If these instructions don't work with your computer do a google search for deleting index.dat files. This should work on most XP2 computers.

Also if you have not defrag your computer in the last 4 - 6 months might be a good idea to do it again. This will increase your computer speed preformance. Using ccleaner will also increase your computer speed preformance by getting rid of all those junk advertising files, dead files, and cookies.

While the program gamer suggests sounds good it should still be used by someone on your computer who knows what they are doing. Also I would advise not to use the DOS command. Using methods like this do most of the time help you and your computer, but can also sometimes mess up your computer and loss important data. Out of all those ideas the only 1 that should be done by someone that doesn't know what they are doing is a defrag. Just make sure you have something ready to do other than using your computer while it works.

Oh and yip, welcome to the forums gamer.

Oh and the site looks down again as it all just froze for me and I can't get back in. A good way of knowing when the site is down is when my avatar won't load, :) . Anyway I'll go do other stuff then check back in later. Hope it's back soon.

I just tried getting to our web host and I can't reach them either...

Looks like it might be more than just PTW that is down.

That's ok, I know it would be back up and running in no time if it only depended on you and bcp. Having hosts that can be down etc, makes it much harder. I've made a chat thread people can use for the moment if that's ok with you, and is in the suggestions section.

It looks like the server is back up again.

Hell of a time to go down, but there's not much I could do. :-/

From the server host:

Quote:
Dear Customer,
On October 31st, 2007, at approximately 16:50 PST, our main POP which
feeds all our transit and peering links at the One Wilshire Building
(http://www.onewilshire.com) had a power outage on the 8th floor. We have
diverse power to the facility but unfortunately the entire floor lost power,
leading to a complete loss of power to all our networking equipment.
Power was restored at approximately 17:15 PST and all services resumed
normal operation.

However, power went out again at 18:10 PST and returned at 18:40 PST.
Again, we were informed by One Wilshire that their equipment had
failed.

The One Wilshire Building is one of the West Coast's most prominent
network interconnect buildings. It boasts an array of well-known clients
and services millions of end users. They informed us of the issue as
soon as it occurred and assured us power would resume shortly.

No servers were impacted in this loss of power. Our servers are
located at a data center facility 50 miles away in a high class data center
facility which has not lost power in the past 7 years of operation.
Only our networking equipment lost power.

We will diversify our network topology by activating a second point of
presence in the down town Los Angeles area. This will prevent any
similar future occurrences. We will have this completed immediately.

CCleaner is just as safe to use by a newbie as by a tech. The preset settings are safe and do not remove any files but crap. If a person can add 1 plus 1 and get two. They are also capable of typing in a simple comand prompt.
Now if your so worried then don't use these safe tips. But don't go scarring off others to help their computers run better. You speak from ignorance and not knowledge concerning these tips.
If anyone is worried just do a current restore on your computer before using these tips.

You can also help speed up your computer by removing any special effects and visual enhancements that are not needed or you don't want. Later if you decide you do want something back that you removed earlier you can always add it back. There are other tips on this page both for security and preformance. Always have a good current restore before trying a tweak.
