my Ideas on how to even the playfield among the higher and lower ranks.

Okay I have no clue as to how the formulas are actually set but I think they already work somewhat based on what I propose. The actual changes would be by adding the fame calulation in instead of basing it on a set amount for the defenders fame.

By changing the way fame is reduced it may also promote more gameplay by lower ranks as they try to progress forward and come back day after day to see all the previous days work gone due to the way fame is calculated. We really have no place to hide on the open sea when we are away, so eventually the repeated loss of everything will just create another sunk ship.

Set limits to what people can steal from pirates by their level difference and the amount of fame the defender has.

levels below attacker
1-2 50% max
3-4 40% max
5-6 30% max
7-8 20% max
9-10 10% max
11+ 5% max
Cannon + Crew + (=sqrt(defenders Fame)) = % won
(could also be a % of the fame)

in attacking a stonger player
levels above attacker
all 50% max
(cannon + crew * a set %) + sqrt(attackers fame) this way if an extremely lower level happens to win the attack they probably couldn't make 5 upgrades out of it unless they had a huge fame like 900 which wouldn't stay long because a single attack could nearly cut it in half if you follow the last section. Now if a lower level player wanted to take a chance that he could find a higher level player you might offer a way to raise their fame to 900 or even 2500 so they could win 30% to 50% in an attack. :)

Make it so a failed attack on a stronger pirate could cause a loss of gold.
max of up to 10% use the level system
attack a red and you stand to lose 10%
attack a blue and you could lose something in the middle
attack a low level green and probably only lose 1 to 3%
1-2 levels 1%
3-4 levels 2%
5-6 levels 3%
7-8 levels 4%
9-10 levels 5%
11-12 levels 6%
13-14 levels 7%
15-16 levels 8%
17-18 levels 9%
19-20 levels 10%

As for fame it stays to high to long 16 hits with a fame of 66 will wipe a player out and only leaves him with a high fame.

Reduce the fame by the percentage they lose in the attack. Its a fair amount and it may leave the player with some gold depending on how long it takes for the fame to reach 0, which would also depend on how strong the players are that are attacking him. Leave 1% loss with the fame at 0. the stronger the players that attack them the faster the fame will go down. this would be in conjunction witht he previous section.
