Title says it all!!
Just this: if you have a dinghy you loose two moves.
So??

I believe this was brought up before

and the argument was "if you are going to use two moves anyways, then why skip the space that might be an island or a town and whatnot"

If you have the map turned on you know that there isn't any island, lagoon, town at N, S, W or E!
Maybe you would go NE, NW, SE or SW because you know there is an island, lagoon or town just there and you don't want to waste time!
