I just read a post asking something about the you can not attack that pirate any more this week. I was thinking of a clever response but found myself contemplating the question what if we could only attack twice per week.

I think that it would cause more pirate movement and therefor more gold stolen events. I don't think it would limit hits much because the pirates that I hit 3 times are just abandoned hulks waiting to sink. Those who like to sit and stare at the monitor for hours will see more active pirates but will be able to pick and choose more who they hit.

Maybe leave it at 3/week and change it to 2/week after 90 days. That would give you time to get stated up.

I am not saying the game should be changed only that this might be an interesting topic to discuss.

That is a thought Cremaster, and an interesting one at that. Being only able to hit twice a week might put more ships moving and it would be interesting to pick and choose which ones to hit. However, don't we do that now? Also, the ships that move now are the same ones that would move then. You still have your radar watchers but they too move at times lol. But it would give some of us a chance to move more and be able to gain more gold off of islands and towns without the fear of some that hit 3 times a week guarentteed. They would only be able to hit 2 times a week and most of them also have certain days of the week that they hit. So it would be beneficial to the new players and the old alike.

But getting more gold off of hits? I don't see how we would do that. Sure more would be moving but they wouldn't have any more gold on them then as they do now! But it is an interesting thought, one that deserves to be discussed. :D

Doing it that way would allow for more upgrades and more gold collecting. I think just about everyone would probably wait until end of week to attack a ship or two. Just my thoughts.

The flipside of the coin would be allowing more attacks per week...

How many people enjoy attacking others more than hopping from island to island?

(Not stating my opinion, just playing devil's advocate)

I don't really want to see attacks cut back to twice a week. When you break it down there really aren't that many who move regularly, and you could be 2x on everybody early in the week. Not sure how I feel about more attacks per week. Will have to think on it.Would be better for the attacker but not so good for the attackee.

Something people have brought up before:

What about either keeping the same # or increasing the attacks per week aaaaaand.......

reducing the # of attacks per week for new players.

So, for example:

First two weeks after you register: Only 1 attack per week allowed on you.
2nd Two weeks after you register: 2 attacks per week
after 1st month: normal amount with the rest of the players

I just totally made up those time limits and whatnot, so they're not firm at all, but it's a thought.

would definitely help introduce newer players to the game...

I actually really liked the idea of giving newer players a 5 ship and a 5 radar to start off, and then it going down for every week they are here until their upgrades catch on...its not fun to start playing and not see a single pirate..this should help them get their sea legs!

Instead of the ship and radar going down, why not just leave them keep them and make the upgrade the regular amount. Only don't give a 5 ship just the normal 1 or maybe 2 ship would still be good because they need to hit as many islands and towns as they can when they start out. It is when they start hitting big blue ships that they get into big trouble. lol Those big blue ones bite back sometimes, esp when you are green lol

and the idea of hitting more each week , ummmmm I agree with happy, it would be good for the attacker but not so good for the attackee so I would have to think on that one lol

I do however like SeaCapts reducing the # of attacks per week for the new players. That would keep them going because they would be able to upgrade with out getting hit so much.

Sorry for thread stealing, just is a related topic. I was thinking rather than limit attacks, how about we have hit tokens stored in the treasure chest. 1 token = 1 attack. Also these could be used to hit any player up to 7 times a week, but each hit would require a token. So if you hit every ship at the start of the week, then you wouldn't be able to hit any ships later in the week, even if you hadn't hit them at all that week. I'm not really that keen on the way I've worded it, but something to do with those hit tokens I think would be cool.
