Pirate The World - Online Adventure Game

As I'm sure some of you were expecting, we will not be able to get PTW2 done in time for November. The port to the new language is taking longer than the "longer than expected" a few months ago, and all the little things that have to get done continue to take up valuable programming time.

We're going to shoot for 1 extra month, but we will post again with either launch or non-launch information when we know it.

Sorry everyone! I'm glad that people are enjoying the monthly-challenge-game though.

I don't really have a position to argue from, so I don't have much to say.

S'okay, SeaCap. I (and hopefully most others) am enjoying the monthly challenges for the time being, so please take your time and get the game right. No glitches, because the game has been properly designed, will be a good thing.

I agree with dwazzy, take your time, am enjoying the game the way it is. Besides if you take your time maybe there won't be any problems when it is up and running.

personally, from the beta, i really dont get that new game.. but oh well.. its okay cuz i dont really have time to play anymore obviously... i mean, i played like 400 moves on the 1st.. and all of em on the 2nd... and most of em on the 3rd... and not since then.... although the whole challenge thing is better than the way it was.... but that was the idea from the beginning.. reset every 3 to 6 months.... because after that its pointless.

Currently in the beta there isn't much to do yet.

The plan is to have lots of things for you to do--search islands, dig for treasure, explore caves, etc.

Or maybe go fishing and pull up a rum keg or a rubber boot or even a 20 pounder squid lol? Just kidding!

i understand that, but if i wanted to play my NES i'd just go plug it back in... really cant stand the format of it but oh well.. i guess we'll see how that works out.. IMO you're taking it the wrong direction.. i'd rather see it go the direction you wanted to take that space game.. but then again, jmo

I'm using the NES graphics because tile-based graphics are easy to manipulate and load. I hope that the gameplay won't be so much like a Nintendo game, as none of them were online multiplayer games, so game metaphors for that won't necessarily work in this setting.

I do think I would like to integrate a bunch of the aspects of the space game that we had talked about, however my HD crashed last year and I lost all of my records, so it has only been from memory. I'm sure the ideas in my head are different from what they used to be. Some of the more general ideas are still good, though not so much the thematics, as pirates in space would be a whole different genre altogether.
