Need some more answers on my nooby questions

1.Observation ? huh ? Whats that for ?

2. Navigation ? Hmm ?

3.Somewhere ingame I saw a notice " Be careful attacking with dinghy!" Does ship give more firepower or anyhting in battle ?? hmm ? More success on attacking ?

4. Whats the point to upgrade to a better ship if it skips more slots ?. For example, I buy ship which skips 6 slots with 1 move point. In these 6 slots, there would be 3 towns and I would just skip them away ? Hmm ?? =D

This game is based on a grid of 401 spaces (east to west) by 401 spaces (north to south). so if you keep a log of where you land on an island or a town moving in one direction it will reappear in 401 moves. Therefore you may skip blank spaces and land only on towns or islands and save as many moves as possible. We used to have co-ordinates on our screen but it seemed to help pirates form fleets a little too easy. Now I think they may as well post them again as it really hurts new players that join since they don't understand the grid like the older pirates. As far as the observation, navigation, etc. there is a game instruction menu that tells you all the uses of these functions.
