Pirate The World will be down for maintenance on April 14th, 2009 from 7:00 PM EST to 9:00 PM EST.

I am going to be moving the game and database to new servers. The home page will be fine, however the member's area and the game (both of which rely heavily on the database) will be down. If things don't go as planned, the old server will still be there to come back up at 9PM.

Update #1: After some testing, I think the server transition will probably only take 10-15 minutes at most, as long as nothing goes wrong, so there is a good chance it will be up pretty quick.

Update #2: After more testing, the main website will also have to go down, to make sure nothing hits the database. There will be a placeholder page up so you can check the website and know the status of everything, and know when the game is back up. The forum will remain up, as it runs on a separate server and database altogether.

Glad to hear this.

Do you think this might help the lag issue I am having. XP = lag Vista = no lag, at least for me.

I'm not sure about XP/Vista lag-no-lag, but I think there is a good chance it will speed up things.

That sounds good. Most of the time I'm stuck at dialup speeds or less, so the faster the better.
Also this is off topic, but could the 'ships of the sea' please show on the game page??. Helps to know when other players are sinking ships without needing to refresh that page,

Update #3: The new game server is being tested. While actually "less" powerful than the old game server, so far it has been able to handle more than 5 times the concurrency load of the old one. This "should" mean faster page loads, less lag, and no more white pages of death, black pages of death, etc. I emphasize "should" because there is no way to tell until we start playing on it, but it's looking pretty good to me!
