Since we are rapidly coming up on cashout, I figured we'd anticipate some of the questions that people will ask and also put out a lot of good information.

On April 1st after the cashout script has run, people who qualified for them will have a choice of taking Gold dubloons, Silver Dubloons or have your gold returned to you.

Gold Dubloons can only be taken in increments of 20 and after electing to take Gold Dubloons you can 1) request an instant paymnt through paypal for any or all of your Gold Dubloons (there is a small fee for this action). 2) request a manual paypal payment of any or all of your Gold Dubloons (there is no fee for this action). 3) save your Gold Dubloons for a bigger cashout at a later date or for prizes that will be added soon. (like T-shirts, mugs, etc)

Silver Dubloons can be taken in increments of 5. If 20 or more Silver Dubloons are taken than a 10% bonus will be included. If 50 or more Silver Dubloons are taken, then a 20% bonus will be included and if 100 or more Silver Dubloons are taken a 25% bonus will be added.

Could the gold dubloons be exchanged at a later time to get the silver dubloons bonus, or is the silver and gold choice a one off?

We will be implementing where the Gold Dubloons can be exchanged for Silver at the same rate as I listed above, and a correction was made, over 100 gets a 25% bonus, not 30%. I forgot to check the purhcases page before I made my post

I also have some news to put out:

As of April 1, the bonuses on Silver Dubloons from Purchases will drop to 5% for over 20, 10% for over 50 and 15% for over 100. The conversion rate for Gold is more since there are no Paypal fees involved and any Silver Dubloons purchased with Gold Dubloons will be treated like a purchase with the 'money' from the gold going into the cashout pot for the next month.

QUESTION: Is the exchange rate that is listed on the cash out page accurate or not? If not can we get an estimate of the proper exchange rate?

I beleive the exchange rate gets modified automatically whenever someone finds gold, or whenevr someone purchases an upgrade

The exchange rate is constantly in flux, it is dependant on how much gold there is in all of the ships that are unsunk in the world and how much is available for cashout. The night of cashout when people are hoarding gold like crazy will cause it to jump some, so a fixed guess at this time is impossible. With the current figures, I would hazard a guess of between 70k and 90k will be where it ends up.

i think we estimated 80k for final cashout total.. so im guessin the b/w 70 and 90 will be pretty accurate.. unless some people just get too frustrated and upgrade

Time to add to the information here, since this is about cashout.

How will this work?

The reset at the end of the month will take a little longer than a normal reset and the following will happen:

1) all gold from all ships in the game will be removed and put into 'holding'

2) when you log in on the 1st, you will be sent to a screen and depending on your final gold amount you will be given a choice to a) get gold dubloons, b) get silver dubloons and or c) get your gold put back in your ship.

you will not be able to play until you make your choice.

What if I don't log in to select my option?

You only have 24 hours to get your dubloons. If you have not logged in by the next reset, all of your gold will be put back in your ship.

But, what if I don't want dubloons, and just want to cashout?

You have to take the dubloons and as explained in the first post on this topic, you can (for a fee) request an immediate payment of your Gold dubloons, or request a manual payment.

What is this 'fee' on immediate payments?

Paypal charges a 2% fee for automated payments. If you have a free paypal account then this is not a good option for you, but if you have an upgraded or business account, then this will be a cheaper option since the receiver is normally charged $.35 + 1.9% or 2.9%.

What if I have a question not already answered here?

Feel free to ask and we will answer you as soon as possible.

Good luck to all! Hope to see your name on the main page next month!

It's unlikely that I'll have anything close to a full payout, but for those who do, will April payouts work the same way?

My impression from last month is that on May 1 at 12:01 am, all the gold you have is quarantined, for lack of a better term, and then you have 24 hours to make your choice. Have I missed anything?

Mike
