Forgive the stupid question, but how will I know if I have a prize pearl? Does the assayer tell me? Or does it tell you when you find it?

With my luck I've probably sold one...

Prize pearls are rare and to know what it is you will need to talk to a master assayer. The apprentices and journeymen will simply tell you that while they know it is valuable, they cannot determine it exactly.

You hand your pearl to the assayer. He pulls out a small platinum hammer and delicately taps your pearl. Your pearl emits a soft black luminesence as he holds it up to the light and says:

This... this... I have heard rumors of these but I had never seen one before today. You must tell me where you found this. This is a radar upgrade pearl!
