i am sick of the system always frezzing for the benifit of rat and pop etc every time they hit you can never hit back it is a fix i have had enough why run a game if things can not be done fair for all to play this is crap some of us work so hard to play the game fair and give new ones a chance and this is how we get payed WELL STICK THIS I HAVE HAD IT |

The system is not slanted in any way towards specific players. The game has no way of freezing on certain players for the benefit of others. |

pop this time it was not you it was the turn of rat an larry and i can get through on rat most times i hit but the one were it matters wot a shock i can not and the game frezzes it is not fair saecapt you say it is fair the game so why are we all getting told in chat by a member that they have friends i high places when it come to knowing when other pirates have fame or not they admit it themselfs so how can it be fair for all |

Anyone claiming to know when someone has fame is blowing smoke. There is no way anyone can know what another pirate has for fame. Now, someone CAN, after a big hit, jump onto MSN and send their buddies in to reap the rewards, which has always been part of the game. Cap has been wroking diligently to make the game perform faster and better for all, but the problem comes with being unable to duplicate the problems people complain of. One player used to msg me over and over they were frozen when the game was working fine for me. The culprit seems to me to be in the routing between the game server and the players. I know I have a game that I play online that it takes 1 second or more per click while others say they can click as fast as their mouse will let them. Maybe we need to stop and look at this entirely from the beginning by asking a few questions: 1) What speed processor is in your system 2) How much memory does your system have 3) How much free space is on your hard drive 4) What internet connection do you have (dial-up, DSL, Cable, etc) 5) Are you using a router, wired or wireless 6) Are there any other programs runnig in the background 7) if this is a shared connection, is someone else downloading when you play 8 ) are you downloading anything while you play 9) if you do a tracert to the PTW server, how many hops does it go through There are a lot of possibilities for problems, and we are working to make it as fast as possible for all. BCP in answer to your questions 1 we are running xp and vista 2 loads of space 3 loads of space 4 dsl 5 not wireless 6 nothing running in the background 7 2x pc via a router so me and smokey can play 8 not downloading 9 no clue wot a tracert is i will take your word that no can find out wot other pirates fame etc is but look at it from my point of view i see it in chat and i have heard the some pirates are good friends with you and seacapt and they just know when to hit you to make the most damage for example rat cost me cash out ths month and a lot of people think there is cheating going on so when you see hat they have friends in high places you can understand my anger but i do appologise |

If you type in 'tracert http://www.piratetheworld.com' you will get a listing like I showed above with how many hops it takes to go from your system to the game server. The 10 hops on mine is about medium, the game I have the most problems on has 18 hops. Cap is in California, same as the server, so he probably has even less than me. The point I was trying to make is that any information on the internet is sent via a set of connecting computers, any of which could contribute to the problem, and the more of them there are the longer information could potentially take. I run a Pentium 4 1.6 GHz system that has 2 GB of ram and 20 GB of free space on the drive with the operating system, but I can bring my system to a crawl by simply starting up a download using bittorrent and then trying to surf the web. I am trying to help diagnose in some way what could be causing the problem, not be a jerk. |

bcp it is 9 hops smoky did it for me on the pentium 47.5gb free space 3.00ghz 448mb and it is new with very little in it |

I would have to side with mandy. The number of times my computer freezes then I get it to unfreeze only to find I have been hit by popcan or css or one of the other big guys, sure does seem to be too often. |

what really makes it wierd is that I don't get hit that often so when it does happen I noted it. It was like tonight about 9pm game time the whole system shutdown for a few minutes. I checked other sites and they all loaded fine but kept getting PTW.com has timed out. I wasn't hit that time but I was sweating bullets because I had 70 fame. |

That happened to me tonight too at about the same time...it just froze, timed out. I closed the window, and hit start game again, and it took ages to come back up. I was freaking out because I was WAAAAAAAAY over 50 fame. Like 4 times over 50! lol! Thank goodness no one hit me, and I reset, but still...scary stuff! |

happens to me alot.. i learn to live with it and pray alot but praying doesnt always work game freezes up..white screen..lags up..then after 3 mins everything is back to normal i know its not me but i do have 20 hops to the server may have to check game scripts for a bug that slows the server down occasionally..but im just shooting out ideas the reason i say it maybe a in game script is me and my wife play ptw together and it happens to her also..but the weird thing is when she is lagged out ..i am not..and when i am lagged out..she is not... if it was ISP lag on our side..surely we would both lag together at the same time |

I havent had time to play recently, but the game has its days... sometimes you get the lag, others you get the speeeeed |
