the lag in this game is terrible...I have not been able to do anything towards upgrades since the ship sinking bonanza and I blame the lag. Today alone I lost just over $33000 in just 2 attacks and its all because I could'nt move...I'm pulling my hair out cause the same thing happens every darn day. It's like friggen fly paper, you're moving along nicely and then bamm there's a blue dot and I can't move..sometimes the page just blanks out and I have to reload only to find I've been raped.

This has been going on for far too long and I know the ptw team is doing their best with what you have but....
It would be nice if all the players would cooperate and maybe consider donationing towards PTW so they can improve on the quality of the game. As in donations I mean that we could all put a buck in the "communal pot" ..even donate what we collect in pearls for instance..It doesn't have to be an arm or a leg, but I'm sure anything would be a help.

I know I'm not the only one frustrated with the lag and I'm sure we would all be happier if we could play without stalling out on a constant basis.

just an idea, but what if you had an option link on the "found a pearl" pop up box or in your treasure chest, where you had the choice/option to donate what you find..I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind giving up a small portion of silver or gold that we sometimes find towards a good cause.

We already pay quite a bit for the server that we have--and we're not using it to its full potential. Not that I really should be turning down money , but more money isn't going to help the problem here.

The fact that only some people experience the problems is another puzzle that has yet to be solved.

I have optimized and optimized, and nothing seems to help the people who get the lag. I've completely rewritten the code, and apparently that only made things worse (for those who were here for that day or two before I reverted back to the old code)

I'm at a loss.

i havent had any problems for the past few months myself

but today i had several lag periods too

I suggested in another thread to dump ad brite. Is it worth it?

I also suggested an edit for our host file so the dns crap servers on the web do not have to puke everytime they are asked for the resolved addresses.

This is the funnest game out there, but something is broke. Captainn anything I can do I will.

Well on this post i have to agree with cremaster. Do you run adbright? On several occasion my computer lags out as well (usually at not good times) And i keep getting warnings thrown up for attempted illegal access of information materials at that same time. I assume from my firewall logs that itsa a data miner attempting to go to work. If it is adbirght i suggest switching to a different one if you really want a data miner. Adbirght is a horrible program, and causes more problems with peoples computers than it does good. It only happens when i play this game as well and in spurts.

Still love the game, just the occasion lag sucks, along with a few other player who wont leave me the heck alone. (the players i can live with... i will destroy you) the lag is brought i assume adbirght is very aggrivating.

Did some experimentation today. I have access to several computers and a couple different ISPs.

On computer 1, on ISP 1, started to have lag-- got the point where I could not move, do anything, could not relaunch game.

Went to Computer 2 on ISP 1, same issue. Cleared Internet caches on both. Same issue.

Went to Computer 3 on ISP 2, went in fast and clean. Played some moves and went until I got a fame reset.

Went back to computers 1 and 2, flushed caches again, tried again, and could not get to the PTW home page, but could get to other web pages.

About 10 minutes later, could get back here on all three machines.

(Did only have one in game at a time--- Not trying to cheat.)

In any case, I guess what I am saying is that there may be some factors network/ISP related that might be affecting performance. Things outside of the good Cap'ns hands.

So, how can I fix this on my end?...I'm a computer user, not a wizard lol

I'm actually not sure how to fix it, since very few of us can go about switching our ISPs at the drop of a hat like tiqvah can.

I will think about it and see if I can come up with a solution.

What's funny for me too, is that I've noticed way less lag on my laptop than my desktop, which I really thought would be opposite, seeing as how my laptop is wireless, but the desktop isn't? Or does that only make sense in Michelle-land?

Regardless, I love the game, I love you all, (even Popcan who hit me for big bucks today), and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon! Oh, except to move tomorrow into our house finally....but I have the internet scheduled to be hooked up there, as it's disconnected here! I'm not crazy!

I'm on a lan connection and dont really experience lag. Sometimes it just doesn't load or crashes on me and I have to restart everything.
