I believe I have reached a no win situation. If I play concervative and just search the islands and dive lagoons, I do not find enough gold to with stand the 10 to 20 daily attacks loosing 1% each. If I play aggesive and attack, sooner or later I get hit and lose half of what I plunder which is usually more than 1 day's work. :?

What do I do? Is there another strategy I am missing or is this just the game? Currently, I feel this to be a no win situation. I like the game, but now I feel I am just wasting time. :(

Please help.

Play any way you want, but always end the day with 0 Fame. You'll move up slowly, but you will move up. As you've already discovered, getting gold isn't hard, holding onto it is! Remember that when it's time to upgrade.

Have fun, I'll be looking for you. -Chuck

you have to risk to have reward.. risk the fame, but be careful when you do.. try to keep it low, and find a reset every once and a while.. also, try hitting towns occasionally to, since they provide more gold more often

I have been saying the same thing in the 'suggestions' thread but getting the same responses as you are - it may sound cheesy but I know exactly how you feel about a no win situation.
