Haha, I'm back 10 mins and have already found a new bug.
My account was removed from the site at some stage over the last year, fair enough....
But i just signed up again with the same username, and all of my old referrals are still under the account name.

I don't mind.. but someone could get a bunch of free referrals if they signup as a name from an old account.

wow, I havent heard from you in quite some time...

anyways, not sure if this is also a bug or not, but the stat for "Gold earned from referrals" doesnt work, as mine is still at zero

Yeah the referrals are currently matched on username, not on something more unique.

On the new server this already won't be a problem.

As to the calculated referral gold, I hadn't actually put that calculation into the new server, but maybe I should. :-) We may also just change the referral system so that it's more worthwhile to get referrals.

Unfortunately we have to keep all of the legacy referral link codes in the system or else we'll break all the tons of referral links people have already posted. :roll:

Yes... "may" is not a strong enough word. We just haven't figured out what the appropriate incentive is. It reminds me of a Drew Carey Show where his super rich boss Mrs. Lauder offers him $600 for his house. He is shocked and protests his house is worth way more than that. Mrs. Lauder says that she knew, but that her accountants had scientifically calculated $600 as the exact amount as the minimum sum that poor people think is "a lot". :lol:

We need to figure out the exact amount that will get the most number of people to work at promoting their referral link while costing the least to the game. :lol:

Or, we could pick an arbitrary number that is better than what it is right now and hope for the best.

I have a feeling that that was what happened last time. Everyone thought that 1000 gp / referral would be a lot of money. On Day 1 everyone found out that you could make 1000 after just a few islands. Hooray for inflation! :lol:
