just click in game chat...click yes on the applet approval and let it load. Then it logs you into the chatroom and you can change your nickname to whatever you want type /nick nickname.

I'm having problems too. I can't get an Ident response so it disconnects me.

i cant even install the java runtime environment because windows retarded data execution prevention keeps killing windows own installer every time i try to run it. in short, no chat for me. is there any possibility of switching it to something else?

Make sure you have the latest version of java available at http://www.java.com

Also, make sure you have the latest windows updates available from windowsupdate.microsoft.com if you are using a Microsoft OS.

I have everything up to date here repustech. I've never had that error from an IRC appy before. Sometimes it takes a little while to find the Ident but it never fails.

hmm, thats weird.. others have used it without any issues. Maybe it's an IRC issue.

For those of you having a problem getting into the chatroom here is an alternative. Download the latest version of mIRC. You can find it at http://www.mirc.com.

Once you run mIRC you can use the following information to login to the chat

server: irc.criten.net:6667 (you can type /server irc.criten.net:6667 and it will connect you)

Then type /join #piratetheworld and you're in

ooh, its just IRC... i think it would be good if you post the irc info on the chat page so users can use their own clients if they want. (i didnt know cause i cant even load the java applet)

You can also use this info in Trillian if you use that for chat program. :wink:
