There's going to be some MAJOR updates to the game very, very soon.

One specific thing addressed is how this game is slanted against new players.

It's not going to be solved in the way that you think, though. ;-)

Well we're coming up on month end, good ol cashout day--- will those changes be ready for next month? The seas are rife with rumours, including those of a reset on June 1st as part of these changes. (Which I am assuming is what has led to an all time high in Cashout inflation.)

Any comment?

Well, one reason that I can give for the astronomical cashout values is that there is a HUGE amount of gold floating around in people's ships... More than I've ever seen. We still have 4.5 days left! People are going to be saving a lot in the coming days and I foresee a particularly cutthroat cashout since it falls on a Saturday night.

It happens in a game the way that it is currently structured. People need more and more gold to upgrade, so they have to hold more and more gold in their ship to get there.

yep yep

I've been holding a pretty penny for quite some time now, and so have the others...the upgrades at this point seem far and few between

So you don't think rumours floating around in the chatroom claiming 'sources close to the game' and 'reliable sources' stating that a reset is coming very soon would cause some folks to hoard gold rather than using it towards upgrades?

I'm not sure who "sources close to the game" or "reliable sources" would be, but I haven't said anything about a reset in the chatroom.

Remember, there's a big difference between:

"They are going to do a reset"

and

"They are probably going to do a reset"

Anyone can theorize what bcp19 and I will do...that doesn't mean that we are or aren't going to do it.

Based on what I see the people hoarding gold are the people who would hoard gold reset or otherwise. They need lots of gold to upgrade or they are the people who try to go for cashout.

well i can't remember who i told yet,i heard it from a pirate who's name might descibe a cowboy, who heard it from some pirate who's name might resemble a famous admiral.
it was in the chatroom.

Im just glad I went with my gut and didn't buy an upgrade.

Feel sorry for that guy that hit larry for the 450k and spent it all on upgrades that he gets to use for a month.

yeah...that's the bummer about the game resetting....all those new guys that come in and actually DO have a decent start will have to get lucky again

but then again, it should be easier for them, seeing as how they will now be able to hit more people than they do now

With the game being reset and not everyone reads what's right in front of them, how about taverns and shops are removed from the game until the end of the month??. Attacking towns and checking pearls would remain though. Only problem is there might be some people wanting to upgrade for some reason, e.g To practice upgrading.
Disabling taverns and shops would be as simple as removing the links to them.
